Point 54

For interest, have posted pictures of last night's game based on C Coy, 1st Dorsets' attack on Point 54 on D-Day. Purely infantry, as we haven't played in a while. After 4 hours and 31 tea breaks we agreed on a German win.

15 Platoon is spotted almost immediately moving through northern outskirts of Buhot.

A German squad spotted in forward positions in the wood line.

A German platoon deploys to engage 15 Platoon.

The British 2-inch mortar accurately puts down smoke to reduce the effectiveness of enemy fire.

A German squad opens fire.

It's at long range, against troops in soft cover, but it causes casualties.

With the platoon commander dead, a corporal steps forward and tries to get the British sections into position to win the fire fight.

The Germans in hard cover have the advantage. A rash British move  for the building in the open is punished.

13 Platoon on a Blind conducts a right flanking move through the wood and up the wood line into close combat. To their credit, the German squad throws the two forward sections back down the hill.

The platoon commander takes the reserve section in and the German squad runs for the trenches. The company commander reorganises the other sections and takes them back up the hill, ignoring off table MG fire from WN40b to the North.

15 Platoon tries to go forward up the path to give support, but takes more casualties.

13 Platoon breaks into the position, but at a heavy cost, including the company commander.

A weakened 13 Platoon cannot exploit. A squad counter attack led by the Leutnant fails to evict them. Stalemate.

15 Platoon continues to give limited fire support but cannot move forward.
