This is an I Ain't Been Shot Mum game played at Gigabites Cafe in Marietta in early January 2011. The scenario was based on the Soviet counterattack against the 258 Division only 27 miles from Moscow on December 3, 1941. Terrible weather (-30°C) caused all the German support tracks and vehicles to freeze in place. The cottages were necessary for survival, so this was a battle to deny shelter to the other side.
The Germans (me) had the equivalent of two infantry platoons; two MMG sections; one infantry gun; one PaK 35; two PaK 181 (f) i.e. French 47mm ATGs; light mortars; and an FO with 105s from the 478 Infantry Regiment. Three StuG D from 191 Stug Abteilung were also on the table.
The Soviets attacked with a couple of mixed tank and infantry formations. Rob attacked first with the 136th Tank brigade, which consisted of four T60s; two T34s and three Valentine Mk IIIs. He also had the equivalent of two infantry platoons. Richard came in later with the 140th Tank brigade: two KV1s and three T34s; and two infantry platoons.
