This is a pretty extensive force covering the Italian armies that fought in the Western Desert prior to the arrival of their German allies. There are some units relating to the period after this, and some units that only fought in Sicily, but the bulk of the pictures relate to the armies that fought the British in Operation Compass.
Annoyingly, I painted the early war Italian vehicles in the later sand colour rather than the dull green they should be (perhaps an enterprising NCO had a load of sand-coloured paint to shift), which also strictly speaking excludes me from using them for any of the campaign in Russia. I will eventually buy some more and paint them the right colour...but that will be when the plastic versions come out!
