The basic building block of any US force is the Rifle Company. It's a sturdy if somewhat unexciting force: good numbers of solid infantry backed up by a plethora of support weapons...although God knows when I'll find an excuse to actually field the Light and Medium Firing Batteries on the tabletop (Chemical Mortars fired from the beach during a Ranger Assault during Operation Husky, the invasion of Sicily: see scenario #4 of my Sicilian Weekend scenario book for IABSM).

All the figures below are Battlefront, apart from a couple of the Big Men who are from Peter Pig, Essex etc. The basic infantry are painted by undercoating the figures in white, washing them with a dark brown ink, and then highlighting in the appropriate colour. The 1st Platoon are in the earlier uniforms of brown trousers and khaki tops; 2nd Platoon sport brown trousers and the dark green top; finally 3rd Platoon are shown in the later dark green trousers and tops.
