Had a nice game of I Ain't Been Shot, Mum last week at a St. Albans, Vermont mini-con recreating defense of St. Lambert-sur-Dives on August 20, 1944 by Canadians against escaping 2nd Panzer Division.

Canadians: Two Shermans plus 2 and 1/2 platoons versus German force of 2 Panzer IVs, 1 Stug, 1 Sdkfz 7/1 Flak and 3 1/2 platoons

Scenario OOB and map from the excellent Skirmish Campaigns book, Falaise Firestorm which easily adapts to IABSM or Chain of Command.

The bridge over the Dives. This is the only way the German armor can get across the river.

Each scenario from the SC books includes details on the battle. This is for August 20, 1944 the day after the St. Lambert scenario in the back of the IABSM Rulebook.

Opening action...Germans surge across the bridge

Three squads of Germans overwhelm a single Canadian squad behind the bocage but suffer shock and 7 kills.

A Panzer IV takes shock and loses an activation from a PIAT in the center building.

The Piat is able to activate in the next turn before the Panzer and brews it up.

German infantry seize the stone houses closest to the river.

A Sherman emerges from the woods and takes out the Stug III.

A grenadier then takes out the Sherman...it only gets one shot but made the most of it with its 11 strike dice.

A second Panzer IV shrugged off a shot from a second Sherman and then brewed it up on the following turn.

German infantry begin to take more houses.

Dismounted 17-pounder crews, true to history, retake one of the houses.

Panzergrenadiers overwhelm the Canadian left flank.

The close of the battle. With no armor left to fend off the Panzer IV and the SdKfz 7/1, the Canadians will have to retreat.
